A brief description of components of the academy:

The Pre-Med and Allied Health Professions Academy was established with the purpose of preparing high school students with a skill-based education in the medicine and allied health professions. Every student takes Health Science I as a foundation course their first year in the academy, followed by Health Science 2. Students will not be promoted to the next class unless they have successfully completed these pre-requisite classes. In addition, courses such as Allied Health Assisting , Nursing Assisting, EKG, First Responder, Home Health Aide, Pharmacy and the Senior Internship require completing clinical rotations.  As a result of this training, students are empowered to make decisions regarding their future career needs as well as meet the demands of the ever-changing health care industry. Students will be certified in multiple occupational exit points leading to multi-skilled, cross-trained, entry level jobs.

Key features that make the academy unique:

  • Because of our Model status, we are honored to receive visitors from all over the nation to see our program and learn about how we function.
  • We are also an official Florida State exam site for Nursing Assistant. We are proud that for the year 2007 we had a 100% passing rate in the Nursing Assistant Test.
  • Additionally, the National Healthcare Association has approved our request to be an official EKG testing site, making us the first high school testing site in the Palm Beach County School District.
