Ms. Jean Miyahira
Ms. Miyahira previously coordinated the Hawaii Consortium of Career Academies that supported academies in the State of Hawaii. A member of the NCAC Board of Directors since 2004, Miyahira previously served as Director of Career Academies, Coordinator of the Business and Technology Learning Center, Business/Education partnerships at Waipahu High School, and an instructor of business at Leeward Community College, University of Hawaii system. Waipahu High School was designated as one of three outstanding schools of Economics by Business Week magazine. She was elected to the Board of Directors for HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in the state of Hawaii, and served as Chairman of the Board, Chair of the Marketing, Technology, Scholarship and Annual Meeting committees. She coordinated the 2013 NCAC Insight/Onsite sessions in Hawaii that addressed the concerns of the Hawaii Department of Education, State Legislature, and school communities. Miyahira holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and a master’s degree from the University of Hawaii, Manoa. She was selected as a National Milken Educator, and previously was recognized as the Regional IBM Teacher of the Year.
